To design an engaging A4 brochure and a tri-fold leaflet for the D-Day Story museum in Portsmouth. The preferred layout and design is to be in the International typographic style (Swiss style). The design-work must feature grids, asymmetric layouts, sans-serif typography, geometric abstraction, simplicity and photography. The overall design must be respectful to those who took part in the D-Day landings and campaign.
My design solution features a range of spreads that utilise grids, asymmetric layouts, sans-serif typography, geometric abstraction, simplicity and photography. The front and back covers use diagonal/slanted texts/imagery and sans serif fonts. I used a clear typographical hierarchy including drop caps, headings, sub headings and pull-quotes, which I arranged using a 3 column layout.
To create an information pack and free gift, to be given out to people visiting a Van Gogh art exhibition. The pack is to contain printed information materials about Van Gogh, such as a leaflet or booklet and an outer container, such as a bag or a box. The design should feature images of his paintings and details about his life.
As part of my design solution, I created 2 information leaflets, one trifold and one square booklet, showcasing Van Gogh’s work. I created eye-catching designs which display close-up images of Van Gogh's artwork in large circles, with accompanying text about the artist. I chose colours from Van Goghs paintings to link my design to his work.
Part 1: To design unique lettering which is to become part of the brand identify for a new restaurant and ‘Foodie’ magazine called EAT. Part 2: To design a front cover for the new magazine, which sets the tone for future editions. Part 3. To create a layout to be used throughout the magazine, which allows for closeup photographs, interesting articles about and recipes used at the restaurant.
I created the letter forms by arranging cooking utensils in to the shapes of letters, I then photographed these letters against a black card background. Using Photoshop, I refined the lettering. I designed the magazine front cover in InDesign and boldly used the unique lettering for the title ‘EAT’. I designed the inner spread in InDesign, with a 4 column layout, side bars, pull quotes and bold images.
